NCFE President, CEO Sam Funchess
Mr. Funchess is President and CEO of the Nussbaum Center. Prior to this position, he held numerous positions on the Nussbaum Center Board of Directors, including Vice Chairman of the Board, Chairman of the strategic planning committee, as well as treasurer. Mr. Funchess brings a vast wealth of experience, as he is also Chairman and CEO of The Fun Technologies Group of Companies. Included in the Fun Technologies Group of companies are Software Publishers, a Compact Disc (CD) and Digital Versatile Disc (DVD) manufacturing company that Mr. Funchess founded in 2001; and Rule Radio, an internet radio and digital distribution company that Mr. Funchess founded in 2004. Both Companies are located in Greensboro, NC. Prior employment includes Financial Analyst for Geneva Associates, a private equity fund; and a Commercial Loan Officer for SouthTrust Bank, a full-service commercial bank.
A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Mr. Funchess has lived in the Triad area for 14 years. Mr. Funchess holds Bachelor of Administrative Science degrees in Accounting and Management from Guilford College.
He has been active in the Goal Area Council of the United Way of Greater Greensboro, is a member of the 2007 class of Leadership Greensboro in addition to numerous other professional, civic and charitable organizations. He and his wife, Barbara, reside in Guilford County, North Carolina with their three children, Chris, 11 years, Zach, 4 and Sam Jr, infant. His interests include family, golf, mountain biking, scuba-diving, music and scouting with his oldest son.
